Why You Are Losing Followers in 2022

Alright, let’s face it. We all make mistakes when it comes to running a social media account and trying to nurture and grow it.

Alright, let’s face it. We all make mistakes when it comes to running a social media account and trying to nurture and grow it. It’s all part of the learning process 🤷🏼♀️ But we’ve learnt from our past mistakes and collated a list of things you might currently be doing that are causing you to lose followers – so that you never have to make the same mistakes we have.

You push your products/business too hard

When you’re running a business account, you want people to decide to support your business because they have built a strong relationship with your brand and have fallen in love with what you have to offer. However, if you are constantly pushing and prodding your audience to make a purchase, you may turn potential customers off rather than convert them.

You don't engage with your audience

It does require more work and time spent online, but there is a lot of value to be found in giving back to your online community. A good rule of thumb is to engage with your audience and community in the same way that you want them to engage with you, and chances are they’ll be a lot more likely to return the favour and stick around. The best thing you can do is put a face to your business, show your personality, and be your true, authentic self.

You aren't sticking to a consistent theme

People follow accounts when they see a post that they like, and they expect to see similar content from that account in the future. If you post content that doesn’t follow a consistent theme – chances are people won’t want to stick around for very long.

One quick tip is to pick 3-4 main colours to highlight in all of your photos; this will help tie your feed together and make it look a whole lot more consistent!

You aren't doing anything interesting or new

While it may not be the easiest thing to hear, sometimes people will unfollow you simply because they feel that your account and content isn’t eye-catching or interesting. A good way to level up the quality of your content is to avoid posting unoriginal content and instead try to make content with a little flair of ‘you’ – even if it’s just your take on a trend that is going around!

With these four hot tips up your sleeve you are well equipped to grow and nurture your social media accounts this year – and retain strong, healthy, and engaged audience in the process.
